The Senior and Disabled Fund, (SDF) carries out its work program by supporting and supplementing, services that assist the senior and adult disabled population of
San Bernardino County.


A granting program of the Senior and Disabled Fund, the SAVE program fills the gap of available emergency aid for qualifying individuals. The SAVE Program aids seniors and adults with disabilities, within San Bernardino County, with one-time emergency assistance. Always the program of last resort, every effort is made to ensure that other services and programs are evaluated for assistance and exhausted before the SAVE Program will assist.

Individualized Eligibility Requirements: Individuals must be residents or intended residents of San Bernardino County, 60 years of age or older, or 18 or older and disabled and meet SSI income level requirements except in unusual circumstances.

Funding Eligibility Requirements: The following types of emergency situations (although the list is not exhaustive) may qualify for a one-time basis grant: 

  • immediate need for food
  • immediate need for utilities
  • immediate need for clothing
  • Eyeglasses, and other accessibility tools
  • emergency repairs and equipment that ensure the safety, security and well being of the individual.

The Transportation Reimbursement and Escort Program (TREP) is run by San Bernardino County Department of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS). DAAS will arrange reimbursement for eligible trips through the Senior and Disabled Fund of San Bernardino Co. (SDF)

TREP operates in 3 county areas:
  • The Victor Valley
  • The North Desert and,
  • Morongo Basin.
The TREP program allows for eligible participants to receive reimbursement for qualified travel.  Eligible participants are reimbursed at 48 cents per mile. Eligibility is determined by DAAS.  Participants are responsible for securing their own drivers.

DAAS ensures participants do not exceed their allotted miles per month. The Senior and Disabled Fund (SDF) receives validated invoices from DAAS and generates a check to the participant for the authorized amount.
